Paris Saint-Germain in search of new manager: Julian Nagelsmann and Zinédine Zidane are favorites
According to information released by the French radio “RMC Sport”, the board of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) would be in search of a new coach, dissatisfied with the work of Christophe Galtier. The two most likely names to take over the position are Julian Nagelsmann and Zinédine Zidane.
Christophe Galtier may have his days numbered at PSG
Still according to “RMC Sport”, it is unlikely that Christophe Galtier will remain in charge of PSG coach next season. That’s because the club’s current coach has accumulated eight defeats in 18 games in 2023 and, in addition, was eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16.
Paris Saint-Germain remains leader, but performance worries
Although PSG remain at the top of the French Championship, the advantage at the top has dropped to six points and the team has lost the last two games, without scoring a goal. These negative results are also considered by the club’s board as a reason to look for a new coach.
Zinédine Zidane is unanimous to replace Galtier
According to French radio, few names to replace Galtier are unanimous within the PSG board, except Zidane. He has been available since Real Madrid left in May 2021 and is considered an experienced coach and winner.
Julian Nagelsmann is another option
The other option for PSG would be Julian Nagelsmann, recently fired from Bayern Munich. Although considered a young and ambitious coach, there are doubts about his ability to deal with a locker room as complicated as PSG’s. In addition, Nagelsmann is a target of interest from Chelsea.
Galtier’s resignation would only happen in case of crisis at PSG
Despite information indicating Galtier’s departure from PSG, the board will only dismiss him this season if the club’s situation reaches a critical point, putting the Ligue 1 title at risk.
PSG are looking for a new coach to take charge of the team. Zinédine Zidane and Julian Nagelsmann are the most quoted names, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Christophe Galtier’s resignation could happen later this season if the club’s situation
